Sir Simogun Pita and Paramount Luluai Golpak were two of Papua New Guinea's greatest heroes of the Second World War. Simogun was a Coastwatcher with Australians behind Japanese lines in New Britain. He then trained and led the Nakanai 'Tiger Force' to fight the enemy. Golpak, a leader from Sali village, gave vital help to the Coastwatchers and saved the lives of many Australian and American servicemen. Both men were decorated for their bravery.
